Review: Breathe Duvet from The Fine Bedding Company

You know when you finally purchase a new pair of  running trainers, in my case Nike Free run trainers, and all of a sudden your old ones feel like lead weights. You just know that your running is going to get better from then on. Not into running?  Ok, then liken it to buying a new coat, lightweight but really warm!

Well, this is same, but with duvets. As I striped my old duvet, the weight of it struck me. It was only a 4 tog but weighed double that of the new 7 tog that was about to take its place (for forever I might add!).

Slipping under the new Breath Duvet is like getting into bed under a pile of feathers. Warm, breathable feathers, but it is not feathers. It is a Synthetic Breathe Duvet from the Fine Bedding Company.

We were thrilled to be asked to review this product. My husbands exact words were ‘we’ve made it!’. It is in fact the first item that we have reviewed that was for us. Not directly for the little toddler who dominates our lives, although obviously he benefits from it. (He does spend many a night in our bed!).

I gave this review some serious time. I wanted to see how a 7 tog would performed on a colder night and when it warmed up a bit. The last couple of weeks have been ideal. We’ve had a mini heat wave (when the flip flops made an appearance) and then of course in classic UK weather, the temperature dropped again to send you reaching for the winter coat you thought you had seen the back of for the next couple of months.

Now I’m not going to subject you a number of photos of my bed, so photo’s of the toddler wrapped in the duvet should do the trick! It is comparably thin to what you would image a 7 tog duvet to be but the unique selling point to this duvet is it’s breathability. The clue is in the title ‘Breathe Duvet’.

To be honest, I have never considered whether my duvet is breathable or not. I can reflect now to nights of being too hot and kicking off the duvet, and cold nights shivering under it. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

What this duvet does is keep you cool and warm all in one lovely sleep filled go, it has it’s own climate control. No kicking off the covers here!

It does this as the clever sleep experts at The Fine Bedding Company developed advanced Smartfil® fibres blended with modal help to wick (remove) moisture away from the body resulting in temperature controlled comfort. The addition of Smartfil® creates a warm and cosy duvet that feels incredibly light and the unique manufacturing process allows more air to flow through the duvet for increased breathability.

I admit that we have never ‘invested’ in a duvet before. In fact I am ashamed to say that our old duvet may well have been one that I had back in my Uni days! I would honestly recommend going and having a look at your current duvet set to see if it is time to treat yourself to an upgrade. The Breathe Duvets are very reasonably priced at £45 for a single 4.5 tog duvet. It’s also available in 7.0, 10.5, 13.5 and Four Season tog variations and from single to super king sizes. Breathe pillows are also available at £25 each.

To The Fine Bedding Company, thank you for allowing us the pleasure of reviewing this wonderful product and for improving our sleep, which is limited at the best of time, ten fold.
