He’s sleeping!

So this is what it feels like to have a good sleeper. I am aware that just writing this means I have jinxed it and will be up at 5am tomorrow morning but hell, I have spent so long documenting how knackered I am, it felt only right to report some good news for a change. He’s sleeping!

We have waited 3.5yrs for this. For the day when our little fireball of energy sleeps in past 7am. Sadly the timing isn’t great, the husband is away with work so missing all of it and I am setting my alarm for 5am to get morning work done, but hey, he’s sleeping.

This is day 7 of him sleeping past 7am. I am writing this at 7.07am and he’s still sleeping. Oh oh, and did I mention, in his own bed too.

Man, I have nailed this parenting lark.

The irony – I have done nothing different. Nothing has changed. We are doing everything we always do but for some reason he is now just sleeping. Perhaps it is just our time. The gods have decided it is our time.

I plan to make the most of this time. I know it won’t last forever (prepare yourselves for knackered post this weekend)  but what a difference it makes. Even though I am up early working, not having your eyes forced open by a chatty toddler at 5.30am is lovely. Being in control of your own mornings almost takes me back to pre-children days when the only way I would wake up were to the tones of an alarm, or dare I say, when my body had decided I was sufficiently rested.

So there is hope. Early risers can clearly change their ways, but clearly I have very little influence over the proceedings! I am enjoying a hot cuppa (well, lemon in water, it is January after all!) again.

Good morning everyone!

Did I mention he is still sleeping?! 🙂

When our little man was 3 months old he decided that he would get up at 6am every day. His sister had slept until at least 8:30am since she was a year old and so I thought this was complete pay back. He got up at 6am for 6 months and then suddenly started sleeping longer. I think they all find their own way in the end 🙂 x
