Review: Alcatel Onetouch Pixi 7

As an Apple girl, reviewing an android tablet was going to be interesting. There is obviously a huge difference in cost and so I felt it was important to review the Alcatel Onetouch Pixi 7 in its own right, and not compare it, at every step to my trusty iPad Mini.

I use my iPad to allow me to not have to carry a laptop round with me at all times. I require a calendar, organisational tools, the ability to write documents and throw together a spreadsheet (although I hate them) on a regular basis, not to mention the ability to access social media.

Alcatel
The tablet arrived preloaded and I was pleasantly surprised to see many familiar apps such as YouTube, the Google collection, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Evernote, Dropbox and even Shazam on there ready to go.

All you have to do when you take it out of the box is charge it up. It was a real bonus to see the social media apps were also in place, ready for me to log in. As a busy working parent, any time savers are much appreciated.

Morning organising

It is easy to navigate, organise and personalise. Apps moved around as you would expect, hold and drag, and can be organised into folders. Set your location so the weather and maps are up to date and you have yourself a working tablet. It should be noted that it only works on Wifi but for many this isn’t a problem and certainly keeps any monthly costs at bay.

For the price, it retails at under £70, I think it is a very handy bit of kit. It does what it says on the box in a ‘no frills’ manner. If you are looking for a very reasonably priced tablet to assist with everyday working life, this may well be it. Packages are offered with EE, where there are various payment and data options.

My only negative is the camera. The quality is poor and no comparison to the iPad or most up to ate iPhones. However, for many, needing a tablet to take photos isn’t required. We have our phone cameras for that.

As with everything I touch or show an interest in, my 4 year old instantly wants it. The little man took an instant shine to the tablet and I must say that there is something reassuring sturdy about it, so much so that I was happy for him to roughly man handle it as only toddlers do. Shark Dash has been installed and it is now ‘our’ new ‘computer’. This genuinely is another perk to the tablet and the price of it. Any technology that you are happy to ‘share’ with a toddler is a good thing. Even if it buys you 10 minutes to enjoy a hot cup of coffee.

NB – The tablet was sent to us for the purpose of this review. Many thanks. If you are interested in learning more about the range of tablets Three has on offer, do visit the website right here

Thanks for posting this review for this Alcatel onetouch pixi 7 tablet. I was thinking about buying it for my 5 year old grandson for Christmas. This helped me make up my mind to buy it.
