Bed hopping, coughing and restless nights

We really are living up to the blog name at the minute in our house. Up All Hours sums it up beautifully.

In light of the confessions that are pouring out of me at present, such as the fact that I hate soft play and I am going on a child free holiday…for a week, I have another one.

I have well and truly screwed up Baby’s B sleep routine!

I hold my hands up and take full responsibility for it. Over the course of the last couple of months, his occasional visits to our bed have become more and more regular until now, when they are every night. You see the problem is I am a complete sucker for the cuddles. There is nothing I love more then drifting off with my little mans cheek touching mine. I know that it won’t last forever. The day will come when I am begging him to get into bed with me for a cuddle and I will get a ‘Urrggghhh Mum, thats gross’ back! God, I dread the day.

So for now, hanging off the side of the bed, sleeping on one of the decorative pillows because there is a toddler on mine, and being woken up with aToddlers Bed  small hand slapping my face is fine. But it isn’t, is it. I am shattered and as for Daddy A? Let’s just say he’s not impressed!

The problem is that every time I decide to take decisive action and tackle the problem, Baby B gets ill and then I can’t bare to let him cry it out with lime green snot pouring down his face. I have spoken to numerous friends about what they did when the little ones starting waking at night, and then what action needed to be taken when they moved up to the big boys bed.

The advice was clear and simple from most. Be strong, stand your ground and don’t worry about letting him cry it out. There are some of course, who answer with the sickening, ‘he just sleeps through’. I dislike you with a jealous passion!

Sitting at my desk today I just rested my chin in my hand as I read something on my computer screen and next thing I knew I had nodded off! I nodded off sitting up, holding my own head up at 2pm in an office. If that isn’t a sign that something has to change, I don’t know what is.

So once we have got our little holidays out of the way, that is the first thing on the agenda. For the next week, Baby B will be spoilt rotten by my mother who loves his cuddles at night as much as I do.
