The Worlds Toughest Job

Have you seen the video below? It’s called the Worlds Toughest Job.

No you haven’t you say………you really must.

But before you do, let me give you some background.

A Boston agency posted a job listing online for a “director of operations” position at a company called Rehtom Inc. The requirements for the position were listed as below, and lets face it, sounded pretty barbaric:

• Standing up almost all the time
• Constantly exerting yourself
• Working from 135 to unlimited hours per week
• Degrees in medicine, finance and culinary arts necessary
• No holidays
• The work load goes up on, Birthdays, Christmas, New Year’s and days of note
• No time to sleep
• No salary

The ad reached 2.7 million impressions but only 24 people actually inquired to find out more. They were interviewed via webcam, and their reactions were captured on video.

Are you a little teary?! I certainly was after watching it. What a brilliant advert for mothers day. I love a creative angle.

Parenting its without a doubt the worlds toughest job. I have always said that. Not just for Mums, lets give the Dad’s some credit to. You get no training and there is no way of knowing how challenging it is, until you are literally knee deep in it. No amount of preparation, or words of advice from parents before you, can fully equip you for the roller coster that awaits.

But what a brilliant privileged roller coster it is. Granted it might make you feel a little queasy at times but thankfully you can sit down and sleep occasionally. And hey, on the salary front, there is always the hope that when the children get older they will earn enough money to support you which would make up for some of the costs over the years 🙂

I am proud to say that I do the worlds toughest job. #worldstoughestjob

So to everyone else who does it too, well done, here’s to a job well done.
