Fun day out with a toddler – Garden centres

As I write this, the realisation dawns on me, that I am writing about a garden centre. Wow, how times have changed. In my head I should be reviewing a trendy new bar in London!

But I am not, I am instead writing a completely off the cuff blog post about Garsons, a lovely garden centre in Surrey not far from us. I wanted to acknowledge the wonderful effort they have made this Christmas.

Those with toddlers, or who have experienced them, know that keeping them entertained requires thought. Not to mention energy and stamina!

So as I pulled into Garsons at the weekend I wasn’t sure if it was going to be enough for my rather active, and hard to please, 28 month old little lad.

It was, 100% times over, and it didn’t have a soft play area! (Which I am always thankful for!) Whilst there is all the wants of a garden centre, there is an impressive toy section and gorgeous gifts/shopping areas for the adults.

All well and good I hear you say, but it’s Christmas! The Christmas areas did not disappoint.

Reindeer

There are two reindeer outside which the children can feed, there is Santa’s band in one hidden corner belting out the Christmas favourites, the decoration and lights section is, as my 27 year old sister described it ‘immense’, with enough variety of baubles to please the most intrepid interior designer.

Hats!

Then to top it all off, they have the most amazing mini Christmas wonderland made of those very very detailed light up christmas buildings. You know the ones, the ones that make you wish you lived back in Victorian times when every year was a white Christmas and the  street were full of lights and Christmas joy. Those.

B was mesmerised. We were there for a good 15 mins as he watched the ornamental people move around the make believe world which quite frankly, I would love to live in. I reckon crime rates are low there.

So essentially what I am trying to say is, visit Garsons. Gone are the days of garden centres only being for gardeners and somewhere to take your Nan on a Sunday. (Even if she doesn’t have a garden)

I tweeted about our visit to Garsons and heard from a number of bloggers who also love it there. One rather well know blogger even disclosed that she purchased a hot tub from there some years ago. That’s right, a hot tub people. I like her style 🙂

I was not paid in anyway shape or form for this blog post. I just like it there. Honest.
