Love the little things

Joining in for a 2nd week, albeit slightly late, with But Why Mummy Why‘s wonderful ‘ Love the Little Things’  linky, here’s what I got up to last week.

Read

I would love to name a book but sadly, I just haven’t got the time for reading at the moment.

So this week I have been reading what seems to be a never-ending ‘to do’ list. I fear that I will still be reading it long into the New Year as things begin to wind down a little for Christmas.

Watched

Our little man in his Nursery Christmas show. He was Rudolf. It wasn’t the most thrilling performance (Yes I said that out loud!) and we couldn’t really see him but the glances I got of him, revealed him to be eating a breadstick and refusing to sing! It was all very very sweet and certainly one of those heart warming experiences. Little kids dressed as stars is always a winner isn’t it.

Oh and rather amusingly, my nan spent the whole show smiling and waving at the wrong Reindeer. Who granted was very cute but was however, a girl!

Wore

I have been sporting some very questionable day time outfits recently. Since the weather has started to get cold, I seem to have taken ‘layers’ to the extreme. My biggest bugbear is super warm heavy coats which become a nightmare to carry around the shops with you when you get warm. So I try to avoid the big coats and go more for layers, which ends up with me looking like this…..

Please don’t judge me. It’s comfortable if nothing else! I was shopping alone at the time and went straight home after.

Heard

The lovely Susan Boyle has covered the Pink Floyd song ‘Wish You Were Here’. It is beautiful. The song is really important to my husband, who lost a dear friend to cancer a couple of years ago and this song reminds him of her and their travels to Thailand. It was later a song played at her funeral. She was only in her 30’s and mum to one beautiful son. I often catch him playing it on guitar during a quiet moment.

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting her a number of times and think of her often. We will be raising a large to drink to you Cloe this Christmas.

Made

Some homemade Advent Crackers. Well, when I say homemade M&S made them and I filled them. B is really enjoying pulling a cracker each morning to reveal either a little Lego figurine for him to put together or another little treat. We’ve had mini snow globes, plastic frogs and a lot of balloons.

I’m already the dreading the January mornings when he expects a ‘little treat’ every day.

And lastly

Business took me to Madrid last week. My first time to the City and whilst I saw very little of it due to work, what I saw was stunning. These are a couple of my favourite snaps.
